Okay you Viper enthusiasts... I am almost done editing this video and I have to say. If you want to learn how to texture, this video is AMAZING.

Kevin has out done himself with this video this is the best video we have come out with in a long time... I know I sound a little over the top but guys... it has 68 sections and covers mroe than just texturing. Kevin also covers setting up a scene, and putting your Viper into a space shot.

Okay back to editing, Vegas crashed on me, so I decided to post and create the forum.

Cool to hear its shipping... Hope everyone likes this - Its a different kettle of fish then the modelling one, and if there are questions, do post them here and I'll do my best to answer them.

But I'll be pretty keen to hear feedback, and see some of the interesting takes people will have on pretty-fying/grunging up those Vipers, eh! (I'm already Curious about just what Dave, King Viper Pimpster, will do with that mean machine of his!) :biggrin:

I was reading in one of Hipcheck's posts that you are doing a lot (most ?, all ?) of the "paintwork" in Photoshop.

Now, I have PaintshopPro and am wondering, how much difficulty I would have following your actions (and "translating" them into the PSP equivalents) ?

Any input ?

acocq, Kev did post on one of the threads that he's keeping the techniques pretty much universal so that everyone can follow along.. Mines turned uptoday so I'll be having a play, I'll let you know how it translates as I'm using corel draw..

There will be no trouble translating into another package. There are no Photoshop specific bits in there. Basically, you need an app that can do layers and brush modifications and the like. Most of the apps around today can do that sort of thing. Kev did an incredible job of being specific without being application specific.

Good to hear that ! Now ... if my Viper modelling DVD ever arrives, I can actually model something so I have a really good reason to buy the texturing DVD !

From everything I have read about Kev's tuts, I am very anxious to get started !

The only thing people have to realise with this DVD is that it won't teach them how to use their paint tool, just give pointers to how to paint the different parts of the texture. So, PaintShopPro is an excellent tool to have! KURV forums are all about support, so while I can't answer any PaintShopPro specific questions, I will check here often in case people do have questions.

As for having something to texture, I also included the Viper Object I created on the Texturing DVD for those people who didn't start with the modelling DVD. But I think its much more fun to do both, then you can try your hand at out-pimping Dave with bigger guns on your Viper! :biggrin:

To be honest, not blowing my own horn here but you can see some of my work on Scifi channels new BSG. I worked on the big G herself and a bunch of the smaller original series models. I freelanced for Zoic Studios at the time.

Modeling basically and the texturing was left up to others. I was always hired as a modelor and really never got into texturing but it's time to advance beyond that.
