Can anyone tell me if it would be better to start with the new LW 9 Practical Lighting, or the Introduction to Shading and Lighting? I only plan on getting one set, and I'm rather new to the subject. I'm using LW 9.

Keith, glad to see you can post... I don't have the practical lighting one, So i'll let someone else give you info on that. However, if your a complete noob to lighting or lighting in LW, the Intro DVD is well worth the cash. Nicholas goes through the principles of lighting and covers a 3 and 4 point rig. He also explains about lighting/shading and the different types of shadows. If your not interested in the theory side of things and want to get going with a lighting set-up then the practical lighting sounds like it will be best. It really depends on how 'new' you are to it and what you want it for..

Yep; I can now post. I'm pretty new when it comes to effective lighting, so theory and principles may be the way to go. Fortunately, it's in a bundle with the Viper Texturing DVD (the UV DVD may be of help as well, since I only use Ultimate Unwrap right now).
Haven't had a reply to my reply to Wes from last week, yet (or the PM I sent him here). I've tried everything except a Carrier Pigeon to get ahold of him, so I've just about run my course there. I see they offer these DVDs on Amazon.com as well (though a little more expensive) as some of the author's own sites. It might be best to go through them in the future.

I can definately recommend the Viper DVD's (modeling and texturing), these are 2 of my favorites.
I haven't seen much from Wes on the forums so I don't know if he's around. He will get back to you, may not be soon, but he will get back to you. And he does look after people, so please be patient with him...

Well, I've got plenty to do (I got the first Viper and Car DVD, as well as Jame's new Node DVD, and the Industrial Modeling DVD), so I'll just stay busy and wait a bit more. :)

Anybody else have any opinions/reccomendations on the subject?
