View Full Version : Glen's Custom UI
Folks, we recently found out that we did not include the UI images from Glen's custom UI on the DVD. This file is available in our free training area (if you have not visited our free area, you simply are missing out on hundreds of free tutorials and files).
So I have attached the images here for you guys who bought the video. You all have the UI config files on the DVD.
If you have not bought this video yet, why..??? okay seriously, the custom UI config files are in the free area here www.kurvstudios.com/free_tutorials
unzip the file here C:\Program Files\Silo\Bin\Buttons\Default\
Thanks folks!!

I want to do the free Silo tutorials by Glen Southern, but I cant figure out how to activate his UI. Ive pasted the icon images into the Silo/Bin/Buttons/Default folder, and Ive pasted the Button Setups, Hotkey Setups and Color Setups over the corresponding folders in Silo. But when I open up Silo, it still has the default UI. How do I activate Glen's UI?

Hi arquebus.
In Silo, go to Options, button settings, At the bottom of that, click on load and go into Buttons, and there should be a file name Button Scheme 1.sbl. open that and that should work. It took me a while to figure that one out.
Hope this helps.

mmmm, This is mine, by that way.
What I did, is I extracted Glens UI into a different folder, create your own in Silos folder, If you want. I extracted it to interface, and buttons came up under that.
Delete Glens UI, and extract it into and other folder, see if that works.

thanks. this is more complicated than I thought, Im going to have to ask in the Silo forums exactly how interface switching is done.

Hi arquebus
It's easy once you know how. Under Buttons in Glens UI, are there any PNG icons showing.I think they are PNG. Make show they are only Glens Icons, and also make show the Button Scheme 1.sbl file is in the folder as well.
Then load up the button settings again, click on Button Scheme 1.sbl file and it should work.

arquebus, i have the same problem. i'm not sure if it has anything to do with using a mac or not. whenever i try to set this up, it comes out the same way yours does. did you find a way to make it work? i tried to use JASC33's solution, but that dinna work either.

Must be a Mac thing or you are doing something wrong. In the Silo forums they are saying exactly what I am saying here.
Hope you can sort this out, I can't do much more.
Go to options/Button settings, click load, Fine the buttons folder, which should be under Default, instead of interface like mine.

double click on the button folder, and Button Scheme 1.sbl should come up.Then double click or click open that file and Glens UI sould automaticly load up. If this doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is.
Just here to help.

Did anyone figure this out yet?
There isnt a Button Scheme 1.sbl in the zip provided by Kurv.
I'm new to Silo as well but I would like to follow the tutorial with the same UI setup. :banghead:

Create a folder called Buttons in Silo. And extract the zip file into the buttons folder. Then under Options go to the Button settings, Down the bottom click load, Then under program files go into your silo folder and click on the button folder and Button Scheme 1.sbl should be the only one you see. Double click on it and it should work.
I have uploaded my Button UI, I know it works. I hope this helps.

Yes...I've had it for awhile. Even before I got Modo. I haven't used Silo since I got Modo though. It's a good modeler for learning...But I find Modo and even Lightwave serve my needs. If you are learning and don't won't to spend to much money..Silo is the way to go.
