KURV studios will be hosting a two day training again this year in Las Vegas. This year we are honored to have Timothy Albee and Larry Shultz as the trainers. To effectively train someone not only do you have to know the software your training on but be able to convey those topics to a group in a manner they clearly understand. Timothy Albee and Larry Shultz are two of the best people in the LightWave 3D Industry for training, Tim has written several best selling LightWave titles including the NewTek Getting Started Guide manual. Larry Shultz has been providing training to NewTek customers for more years than most have been using the software. Being able to sit and listen to these two dynamic artists in a two day training session will be invaluable.

Larry and Timothy provide the perfect blend of training for LightWave 3D artists. Timothy brings an artistic style to the sessions while Larry brings a very scientific side. Imaging art and science coming together, after all 3D is a little of both. Larry and Timothy will show you both sides of modeling, texturing and animation, the acting and science behind the how to’s and why’s.

About Our Trainers:
Timothy Albee is a veteran of Walt Disney Feature Animation, broadcast television, syndicated television, commercials, and video games. He co-founded two animation studios in the Los Angeles area before moving to Fairbanks, Alaska, to focus on his vision of “micro-team” filmmaking. His goal of “no secrets” is embodied in his best selling books Essential LightWave 3D, LightWave 3D Character Animation, NewTek’s Getting Started Guide (included in the LightWave 3D 8 box), and CGI Filmmaking the Creation of Ghost Warrior. In 2004 Timothy Albee focused all of his artistic passion on a short ‘proof of concept’ film called Kaze Ghost Warrior. Kaze was hailed by the industry and gained popularity as article after article was written about the 23 minute animated short film made in 6 months by Tim alone. NewTek featured this film at Siggraph 2004 while magazines and news sites like 3D World, Computer Graphics World, AnimWatch, VFX World, 3D|VFX, KeyFrame (now HDRI3D), Animation Magazine, Variety’s DVD Exclusive, RenderNode and more all featured articles about Timothy Albee’s achievement with Kaze.

Today, Timothy Albee is in the process of moving to Toronto Canada, and is working with 4 VFX professionals to create a featured film in the Kaze series. Timothy is currently writing updates to all of his books for Wordware Publishing as well as being contracted to produce video training for KURV studios.

Larry Shultz has been involved with computer graphics since the mid-1980s. He began using LightWave 3D in its early days for TV commercials and other projects at a CGI company he co-founded during the early ’90s called The Animation Factory in Albuquerque. Since those days Larry has worked for such companies as American Laser Games, Sony Development, Discovery Channel, Netter Digital, Foundation Imaging, Amalgamated Pixels, and Squarehouse Entertainment, as well as working on a freelance basis for many other companies. Larry is very experienced in almost every aspect of LightWave, working as lead artist, technical director, and in many other positions on a variety of projects.

Larry is also heavily involved with LightWave training and has taught seminars all over the United States and several schools including NewTek Inc., Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, Video Symphony, Foundation Institute, and 3D Exchange. Larry also developed the first online courses specifically for LightWave more than four years ago. Clients include various studios, government facilities, and universities around the world. His courses can be purchased from www.3dtrainingonline.com, www.kurvstudios.com and www.amazon.com.
